Long PDFs are often a bundle of things that belong apart: a scanned stack of invoices, a book with chapters, a contract with annexes, an exam paper with its answer key at the back. Splitting turns one file into several, so you can send, store or print only the part that matters.
This splitter runs in your browser and offers three modes: every page on its own, groups of a fixed size, or ranges you type such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each output is a real PDF with the original pages copied unchanged, ready to download one by one or together as a ZIP.
Three ways to split a PDF
Each page, the default, produces one file per page, named with padded numbers such as contract-page-01.pdf and contract-page-02.pdf. Groups cuts the document into chunks of the size set in Pages per file, anywhere from 1 to 1000; a 10-page file split into groups of 3 gives pages 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9, plus a last file holding page 10.
Range gives full control. Type the ranges you want, separated by commas, and each range becomes its own file: 1-3, 5, 8-10 creates three PDFs, one with pages 1 to 3, one with page 5 alone and one with pages 8 to 10. A range left open at the end, such as 12-, runs to the last page, and -4 starts at page 1. Ranges may overlap or repeat, which helps when the same cover page belongs in every part, and one written backwards, like 9-7, is read as 7-9.

Separating batch scans
A scanner's document feeder often saves a whole stack of paper as one PDF. If every letter or receipt is a single page, Each page separates them in one step; if each one is two pages long, Groups with 2 pages per file does the same.
Sending only the relevant pages
Clients, lawyers and colleagues rarely need a whole 80-page report. Pull out the summary and the chapter they asked about with a range like 1-4, 37-52, and send two small files instead of the full document.
Staying under upload size limits
When a portal caps uploads at a few megabytes, splitting a heavy PDF into chunks usually brings each part under the limit. Groups suits this job, because you decide how many pages go into each file.
What happens to your pages
The tool reads the PDF with pdf-lib in a Web Worker, creates a new document for each range and copies the pages into it. Pages are not redrawn, so text stays selectable, images keep their original quality and each part carries only the pages and fonts it needs.
If a range cannot be used, for example 15-20 in a 12-page document or a typo like 3x, the file is marked with an error saying the page range is not valid. Correct the text in Page ranges and press Retry failed files; the corrected range is used without adding the PDF again. Several PDFs can be split in one go with the same settings, so a range that suits one file may be out of bounds for a shorter one.

- Drop the PDF on the box above, or click Choose files (up to 200 MB per file).
- Under Split into, choose Each page, Groups or Range.
- For Groups, set Pages per file. For Range, type the ranges in Page ranges, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10.
- Press Convert. If a range is rejected, fix it and press Retry failed files.
- Download each part, or press Download all (.zip) to get every file at once.
Limitations
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be split until the password is removed.
- Bookmarks and file attachments stored in the original are not copied into the parts.
- Pages inside a range always keep their original order. To rearrange sections, split them and join them again in a new order with Merge PDF.
- A font used across many pages is copied into every part that needs it, so the parts together can weigh more than the original.
