Scheduling a call between Riyadh, London and New York or catching a live stream from Tokyo comes down to one question: what time is it there when it is this time here? This converter answers it for as many places as you like at once, using your browser's IANA time zone database.

Choose a date and time, choose the zone it belongs to, and every zone in your list shows the matching local time, its UTC offset and whether it falls on the same day, the day after or the day before. Daylight saving time is applied for the date you picked, not for today, so a meeting planned for next month comes out right.

Time zones, UTC offsets and daylight saving

Every time zone is defined relative to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Riyadh is UTC+3 all year, Tokyo is UTC+9, India is UTC+5:30 and Nepal is UTC+5:45, which shows that offsets are not always whole hours. Many zones also move their clocks for daylight saving time, so their offset depends on the date: London is UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, New York is UTC-5 in winter and UTC-4 in summer.

Those switches do not happen on the same day everywhere. In 2026, the UK changes back on 25 October but the US waits until 1 November, so for one week the gap between London and New York is four hours instead of five. Countries in the southern hemisphere, such as Australia, move their clocks in the opposite season. A fixed-hours rule gets those weeks wrong.

This tool uses zone names from the IANA database, such as America/New_York or Asia/Riyadh, rather than abbreviations like EST or AST, because abbreviations are ambiguous and do not say when daylight saving applies.

Common time zone tasks

Planning international meetings

Set the proposed time in your zone and add every participant's city. On Thursday 15 October 2026, 15:00 in Riyadh is 08:00 in New York, 13:00 in London and 21:00 in Tokyo, which shows at a glance who would be joining at breakfast and who after dinner.

Live events, launches and broadcasts

Announcements often give a single time in one zone. Enter it with the organiser's zone as From time zone and add yours to see the local start, including whether it lands on the next day.

Travel and calls home

Before calling family abroad, check their local hour. The day badge makes it obvious when 22:00 in New York is already 11:00 the next morning in Tokyo.

How the conversion is done

On load, the From time zone is set to your device's zone and the Date and time field to the current minute; the Now button resets both. The list starts with UTC, New York, London, Riyadh and Tokyo. Add time zone opens a search box (try new york or kolkata), and each card's remove button takes a zone off the list. Times are shown on a 24-hour clock with the offset, such as UTC+5:30, and a badge reading Same day, +1 day or -1 day.

Behind the scenes the tool turns your local date and time into a single instant, then asks the browser's Intl date formatter for the wall-clock time in each zone. Two edge cases are handled explicitly. When clocks spring forward, a time such as 02:30 on 8 March 2026 in New York does not exist; the tool says so and uses the next valid time, 03:30. When clocks fall back, a time such as 01:30 on 1 November 2026 in New York happens twice, and the earlier one is used. Each card has a copy button that copies its date, time, zone and offset.

Come usare questo strumento

  1. Set the Date and time you want to convert, or press Now for the current time.
  2. Check From time zone and change it if the time belongs to another place.
  3. Use Add time zone to search for each city or zone you need, and remove the ones you do not.
  4. Read each card's local time, UTC offset and day badge, and copy the ones you want to share.

Limitations

  • Search matches IANA zone names, which use one major city per zone. For a city that is not in a name, search for the zone it belongs to, for example Riyadh for Mecca or Los Angeles for San Francisco.
  • Daylight saving rules come from your browser's time zone database. Governments occasionally change rules at short notice, and an out-of-date browser may not know the latest change.
  • Your list of zones is not saved and resets when you reload the page.
  • Times are shown to the minute; seconds are not converted.

Domande frequenti

Does this time zone converter handle daylight saving time?

Yes. Offsets are worked out for the exact date and time you enter, so a meeting on a date after the clocks change is converted with the new offset.

What does +1 day mean on a card?

It means that, at the moment you entered, the date in that zone is already the next calendar day compared with the From time zone. -1 day means it is still the previous day there.

Why does a time I typed show a warning about clocks jumping forward?

On the night daylight saving starts, an hour is skipped in that zone, so times inside it never happen. The converter uses the first valid time after the gap and tells you it did so.
