Video Editor is a non-linear editor that opens inside this page. It has the parts a cutting room expects: a Source and a Program monitor, bins for footage, a multi-track timeline with video and audio tracks, trim tools, markers, a colour panel with scopes, an audio mixer with loudness meters and an export screen that writes an MP4. If you have spent time in desktop editing software, the panels, workspaces and keyboard shortcuts will feel familiar from the first minute.

Nothing leaves your computer. The editor is a program delivered by this site and run by your browser; the clips you import are read from your disk into memory and decoded there, and the finished video is a normal download. There is no account, no watermark and no rendering farm. The first visit fetches about 13 MB, which the browser keeps in its cache, so the editor opens quickly on later visits.

What this video editor can do

Editing starts with footage in the Project panel: import MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI files, still images, image sequences and audio, then mark In and Out points in the Source monitor and insert or overwrite onto the timeline. The timeline gives you ripple, roll, slip, slide and razor tools, snapping, linked audio and video, track locks and markers with colours and names, plus around thirty transitions such as dissolves, dips, wipes and pushes. Every clip has Motion and Opacity controls with keyframes that can be linear, Bezier or held, and the Effect Controls panel shows value and velocity graphs for each animated parameter. Video effects cover blurs, keying, distortion, lights and glows, time effects such as echo and posterize time, and more.

The Color workspace is a complete grading panel: temperature and tint, exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows, built-in looks, RGB and hue curves, three-way colour wheels, an HSL secondary for keying a single colour and a vignette, all checked against a live waveform and vectorscope. Titles are built with Type, Shape and Pen tools directly on the Program monitor, and caption tracks can import and export SRT and WebVTT files or burn the subtitles into the picture. On the audio side there are clip effects, a track mixer with inserts and sends, automation and loudness meters that follow broadcast standards. Export writes H.264 MP4 with AAC audio by default, with presets, bitrate and frame size controls, and can also produce other QuickTime variants, PNG sequences, animated GIF and WAV.

When to use an online video editor

A proper cut on a machine with no editing software

You are on a borrowed laptop or a locked-down work computer and a short video needs cutting, a title and a music bed. Open the editor, import the clips, build the sequence and export the MP4 without installing anything.

Colour, titles and captions in one place

A talking-head recording needs a warmer grade, a lower third with a name, and subtitles for people who watch without sound. The grading panel, the text tools and the caption track handle all three on the same timeline.

Footage that should not go to a cloud service

Interview recordings, internal training material and family videos stay on your disk while you edit, because the whole application runs in the browser tab. Once cached, it even keeps working offline.

How the editor runs in your browser

The application is compiled to WebAssembly and includes its own video and audio decoders and encoders, so it does not depend on what your browser can play natively. Frames are composited on the graphics card through WebGPU where the browser offers it, otherwise through WebGL2, which is why a desktop browser with one of the two is required. Because decoding and encoding run on your processor, speed depends on your machine: short clips in 1080p edit comfortably, while long 4K material takes patience.

Importing uses the browser's file picker and reads the clips into memory, so files are never transmitted anywhere. Exporting renders the sequence in the background with a progress bar you can cancel, and the result arrives as a download. Projects are saved the same way, as a file in your Downloads folder, and unsaved changes are kept in the browser every few seconds so a reload brings them back.

Как пользоваться инструментом

  1. Let the editor load; the first visit downloads about 13 MB, later visits start from the browser cache. The editor opens with a demo project you can explore or close.
  2. Import your clips with File > Import, or drag them from the file picker. Double-click a clip to view it in the Source monitor, mark In and Out, then insert it on the timeline.
  3. Trim and arrange the clips, add transitions, grade the picture in the Color workspace, build titles with the Type tool and add captions or music on their own tracks.
  4. Open Export, choose a preset such as H.264 MP4 with matching frame size, check the summary and click Export. The finished file lands in your Downloads folder.

Limitations

  • A desktop browser with WebGL2 or WebGPU is required; phones show a notice instead of the editor. Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge are the best fit for importing files.
  • The first load is about 13 MB. Afterwards the browser cache serves the editor, including offline.
  • Decoding and rendering use your processor, so very long or 4K clips are slow, and the browser tab's memory limits how much footage can be open at once.
  • This is a capable editor for everyday work, not a replacement for every feature of a desktop suite: some effects, formats and interchange options are missing or partial, and hardware encoders are not used in the browser.
  • Exports and project files are browser downloads. Save the project before closing the tab if you want to continue later.

Частые вопросы

Is anything uploaded while I edit?

No. The editor is a program your browser runs on your computer. Clips are read from your disk into memory, decoded and composited there, and the exported video is written to your Downloads folder. This site only serves the editor's own files, like any page's scripts.

Which formats can I import and export?

Import MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI with H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9 or AV1 video and AAC, MP3, Opus, FLAC or PCM audio, plus PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, TIFF and BMP images and WAV, MP3 or FLAC audio files. Export is H.264 MP4 with AAC by default; PNG sequences, animated GIF and WAV are also available.

Can I add subtitles?

Yes. Create a caption track and type the captions in the Text panel, or import an SRT or WebVTT file. Captions can be exported again as a file or burned into the exported video so they are visible everywhere.

How do I colour grade a clip?

Select the clip and open the Color workspace. Basic Correction handles exposure, contrast and white balance; Curves, Color Wheels and HSL Secondary give finer control, and the waveform and vectorscope show the result. Every section has its own on and off switch.

Why is exporting slow on my computer?

The H.264 encoder runs in WebAssembly on your processor rather than on a dedicated chip, so a long 1080p export can take several times the clip's duration on a laptop. Shorter sequences, lower frame sizes and the Adaptive bitrate presets finish faster.
