Some countdowns last five minutes, like a tea timer or a presentation slot. Others run for weeks, like the days left until a wedding, an exam or Eid. This timer handles both: set a duration in hours, minutes and seconds, or pick a date and time and let it count the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining.

Give the countdown a label, choose whether a sound plays at zero, optionally allow browser notifications, and copy a link that opens the same countdown on another device. The remaining time also appears in the browser tab title, so you can glance at it while working in another tab. It all runs on your device without an account.

Two kinds of countdown

Duration mode works like a kitchen timer. You enter hours, minutes and seconds (the default is 5 minutes), press Start, and the display counts down to zero. You can pause and resume it, or reset it to the duration you entered. The longest duration accepted is 100 days.

To a date mode counts down to a specific moment chosen with the Date and time picker in your own time zone. The target is stored as an exact instant, so when you share the link with someone in another country their countdown reaches zero at the same moment as yours, even though their clock shows a different local time. This mode suits events: product launches, flights, deadlines, birthdays, the first day of Ramadan or the start of a new year.

In both modes the timer works from timestamps rather than counting ticks. Browsers slow down timers in background tabs to save power, which makes naive timers drift; this one recalculates the remaining time from the device clock every quarter of a second and whenever the tab becomes visible again, so the display is correct when you come back.

Ways people use a countdown timer

Focus sessions and study blocks

Set 25 minutes for a Pomodoro-style work block or 50 minutes for a study session, label it, and let the sound tell you when to take a break. The tab title keeps the remaining time visible while you work elsewhere.

Classrooms, meetings and talks

Put a large countdown on a shared screen for a quiz, an exam section or a speaker's slot. The large digits for days, hours, minutes and seconds are easy to read on a projector or TV.

Counting down to an event

Choose To a date, pick the event date and time, add a label like Launch or Eid, and copy the share link to send to friends or post in a group chat. Everyone who opens it sees the same target.

Alerts, sharing and the tab title

When the countdown reaches zero, the display shows Time is up! and, if Play a sound at zero is switched on, three short beeps play. If you pressed Enable notifications and allowed them in the browser prompt, a system notification with your label appears too. Both need this page to stay open; closing the tab stops the timer.

Copy share link builds a web address containing only the target time or duration and the label, nothing else. A date link starts counting as soon as it is opened, as long as the date is still in the future. A duration link fills in the hours, minutes and seconds and waits for the recipient to press Start. Starting a countdown also updates the address in your browser bar, so a bookmark of the page keeps the same settings.

Bu araç nasıl kullanılır

  1. Choose Duration or To a date under Countdown type.
  2. Enter hours, minutes and seconds, or pick the target in the Date and time field.
  3. Optionally type a Label, keep Play a sound at zero on, and press Enable notifications.
  4. Press Start, and use Pause, Reset or Copy share link as needed.

Limitations

  • The page must stay open for the sound and notification to fire. It is not an alarm that wakes a sleeping or locked device.
  • In a background tab, browsers may run timers less often, so the beep can arrive a little after zero. Keep the tab visible when split-second timing matters.
  • Duration countdowns are capped at 100 days; for longer spans use To a date. Labels are limited to 80 characters.
  • Notifications depend on browser and system settings. If they are blocked, the page says so and you need to allow them in your browser's site settings.

Sıkça sorulan sorular

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It calculates the remaining time from the clock, so switching tabs or minimising the window does not make it fall behind. The alert sound needs the tab to stay open.

Can I share a countdown to a date with friends in other time zones?

Yes. The share link stores the exact moment, so the countdown reaches zero at the same instant for everyone, and the target appears in each person's own local time.

How do I set a 10 minute timer?

Keep Duration selected, enter 0 hours, 10 minutes and 0 seconds, and press Start.

Is my countdown saved on a server?

No. Nothing is stored online. The only record is the share link, which holds the target time and label in its address.
