JPG is the format nobody argues with. More than thirty years after it was standardised, it is still the one that every phone gallery, printer kiosk, email client, office suite and upload form accepts without question. When you have a pile of images in assorted formats and simply need them to work everywhere, converting them all to JPEG is the practical answer.

This page takes PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF files, in any combination, and produces a JPG for each in one batch. You choose a single quality level, the browser does the encoding on your own computer or phone, and the finished files can be saved one by one or bundled in a ZIP.

What a generic image to JPG converter does

Each file is decoded by the browser into plain pixels, whatever its original format, and those pixels are then compressed with the JPEG encoder. JPEG is lossy: it simplifies fine detail that the eye barely registers and in exchange produces compact files. At the default quality of 82 most photos look unchanged; graphics with sharp text benefit from 90 or more.

JPEG has no transparent pixels, so anything see-through in the source has to become a solid colour. This converter paints a white background first and places the image on top, which means a transparent PNG logo or a WebP sticker comes out on white. Semi-transparent edges and soft shadows blend into that white as well. If you need the transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

Typical reasons to batch convert to JPG

A form or portal that only takes JPEG

Insurance claims, school portals, rental applications and visa systems frequently list JPG as the only allowed type. When your documents arrive as a mix of screenshots, scans and web downloads, one pass here turns them all into acceptable files.

Ordering prints or photo books

Many print kiosks and online photo labs expect JPEG and may reject AVIF, WebP or BMP outright. Converting at quality 90 or above keeps prints sharp while giving the lab a format its software was built around.

Sharing with older devices and relatives

Digital photo frames, smart TVs, older tablets and some messaging apps still stumble on newer formats like AVIF and WebP. A JPG copy opens on practically anything, so the person you send it to does not need to install a viewer.

From any format to JPEG, step by step

When you press Convert, a background Web Worker takes the files one at a time. It decodes each with createImageBitmap, fills an off-screen canvas with white, draws the image over it at the original width and height, and asks the browser for an image/jpeg file at your chosen quality. The output keeps the original name with a .jpg extension.

The Quality slider runs from 10 to 100 in steps of 5. Converting from a lossless source such as PNG or BMP usually gives a big saving at little visible cost, while converting a WebP or AVIF that was already compressed adds a second round of loss, so keep those at 85 or higher. You can also drop existing JPGs into the batch to re-save them at a lower quality, which is a quick way to meet a file size cap.

Bu araç nasıl kullanılır

  1. Add your images by dropping them on the box or clicking to browse; PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF can be mixed.
  2. Pick a Quality value: about 90 for documents and text, about 80 for everyday photos.
  3. Press Convert and compare the before and after sizes listed for each file.
  4. Download the JPGs individually or press Download all (.zip) to take them all at once.

Before you convert

  • Transparent areas always become white; other background colours are not offered here.
  • Animated GIF, WebP and AVIF files lose their animation and keep only the first frame.
  • iPhone HEIC photos need the dedicated HEIC to JPG converter, which loads its own decoder.
  • Metadata like EXIF and GPS is not copied, dimensions stay the same and each file can be up to 50 MB.

Sıkça sorulan sorular

Is JPG the same as JPEG?

Yes. JPEG is the name of the standard and .jpg is simply the shorter file extension that old DOS and Windows systems needed. Files saved here use .jpg, which every program treats the same as .jpeg.

Can I convert AVIF to JPG with this tool?

Yes, provided your browser can open AVIF. Current versions of Chrome, Edge and Firefox can, as can Safari 16 and later. If your browser cannot decode an AVIF file, that row shows an error and the other files still convert.

Why is my PNG logo on a white background now?

JPG cannot store transparency, so the converter places the image on white before saving. For a logo that must sit on coloured backgrounds, use Image to PNG or Image to WebP, which both keep transparent areas.

Will converting to JPG reduce the file size?

Usually, especially for PNG and BMP sources, which store pixels losslessly. Images that were already in a compact lossy format, such as AVIF or WebP, may shrink only a little or even grow. Each row in the results shows the percentage so you can decide which copy to keep.
