How these tools work

PDFs tend to hold the documents you least want to hand to a stranger: contracts, bank statements, IDs and medical letters. Every PDF tool here opens the file inside your browser, makes the change on your device and gives you a new file to download. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue to wait in and no copy left on someone else's server.

Merge PDF combines files in the order you drag them into, and Split PDF does the reverse by single pages, equal groups or ranges such as 1-3, 5. Rotate PDF fixes sideways scans on all, odd or even pages, and Compress PDF offers a lossless re-save or a stronger mode that redraws pages as JPEG at the DPI you choose. Sign PDF places a drawn, typed or uploaded signature and the date on any page.

For conversions, Images to PDF and JPG to PDF build a document from photos and screenshots, PDF to Images renders each page as a PNG or JPG, PDF to Text extracts the words into a .txt file, and PDF to Word rebuilds paragraphs and headings in an editable .docx file. PDF files can be up to 200 MB each.

Other tools handle the rest of the paperwork. Organize PDF reorders, rotates and deletes pages on a thumbnail grid, Add Page Numbers and Watermark PDF stamp every page, and Fill PDF Form completes fillable forms. Protect PDF adds a password, Unlock PDF removes one you know, and PDF Metadata, Extract PDF Images and Grayscale PDF cover the smaller jobs.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is read and rewritten by code running in your browser, and the result is created on your device. Your documents are never transmitted, which matters for contracts, statements and anything with personal data.

Can these tools open password-protected PDFs?

Yes, if you know the password. Unlock PDF asks for it once and saves an unlocked copy that the other tools can open; it cannot recover a forgotten password. Protect PDF does the opposite and locks a file with AES-256 encryption.

Does PDF to Word work on scanned documents?

Only when the PDF contains selectable text. PDF to Word and PDF to Text read the text layer and do not run OCR, so a scan made only of page images has no text to extract.

Does merging or rotating reduce quality?

No. Merge, Split and Rotate copy the original pages without re-encoding them. Only the Strong mode of Compress PDF and Grayscale PDF redraw pages as images, and Compress PDF never returns a file bigger than the one you gave it.
