How these tools work
This page lists every tool on NeedToConvert, grouped by the job it does. Use the category chips or the filter box to narrow the list by name or keyword, for example webp, merge or password.
All of them share one approach: the work happens in your browser, on your own device. Image and PDF tools use the browser's canvas and JavaScript PDF libraries, video and audio tools use FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, and the document and data converters, text tools, generators, calculators and unit converters are plain code running in the page. Your files and text are never uploaded, there is no account to create and there is no watermark on the results.
The file tools accept batches and offer a ZIP download, with per-file limits that range from 50 MB for images to 200 MB for PDFs and 500 MB for video and audio. New tools are added regularly, and if you need a converter that is not here yet, the contact page is the place to ask for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. Every tool runs in a modern browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a computer or a phone. Video and audio tools download their engine from this site the first time you use them.
Are the tools really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan, no sign-up and no watermark. The site is funded by ads and by voluntary Buy Me a Coffee donations.
What happens to my files?
They are read and processed in your browser and offered back to you as downloads. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and the files are released from memory when you close the page.
