Word Processor is the site's document editor, and it runs in your browser tab. It has the layout office users already know: a ribbon with Home, Insert, Design, Layout, References, Mailings, Review and View tabs, a styles gallery with live previews, rulers, a navigation pane and the keyboard shortcuts you expect, so there is nothing new to learn before you start typing. It opens and saves DOCX files, so a document can travel between this editor and Microsoft Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs, and it exports a PDF with real, selectable text.

The editor is delivered by this site and executed by your browser, so the document never leaves your computer. There is no account, no upload and no watermark. The first visit downloads about 14 MB, which the browser then keeps cached; later visits start in a moment.

What this word processor can do

Writing feels like a desktop program: smart quotes, automatic lists when you type an asterisk or a number, word and paragraph selection, find and replace, undo and a clipboard that keeps formatting. Characters take fonts, sizes, bold, italic, underline, colour, highlight and spacing; paragraphs take alignment, indents you can drag on the ruler, line spacing, tabs with leaders, borders and shading. Styles come as a built-in set that you can modify or extend, and the Design tab switches themes, style sets, page colour, watermarks and borders. Lists are bulleted, numbered or multilevel, and tables are inserted from a grid, merged, split, styled with banded rows, sorted and given header rows that repeat on each page.

The Insert tab adds pictures (with crop, recolour and brightness controls), shapes, text boxes, headers, footers, page numbers, fields and symbols; pictures and shapes can float with text wrapping around them. References builds a table of contents, footnotes and endnotes, captions, cross-references, an index and citations with a bibliography in APA, MLA, Chicago or IEEE style. Review checks spelling and grammar as you type, counts words, keeps comments in margin balloons, tracks changes so that insertions and deletions show in colour until they are accepted or rejected, and compares two documents. Mailings runs a mail merge from a CSV file. The File page starts from a blank document or a template, and it exports to PDF as well as ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown and plain text.

When to use a word processor in the browser

Editing a DOCX on a machine without Office

A colleague sends a report for your changes and you are on a borrowed laptop or a fresh install. Open the file here, make the edits with track changes on so they can see what moved, save the DOCX and send it back. No installation and no trial to sign up for.

Writing a letter, CV or essay from scratch

Start from the letter or résumé template, or from a blank page, and write with proper styles, so headings, a table of contents and page numbers come out right. Export a PDF when it is finished and keep the DOCX for the next revision.

Working on text that should stay private

Contracts, medical letters, references and anything with personal details should not sit in a cloud editor's account. Because the whole application runs in your browser, nothing is transmitted, and the editor keeps working offline once its files are cached.

How the editor runs in your browser

The editor is a complete word processing engine compiled to WebAssembly, with its own text layout, pagination and DOCX reader and writer, so pages look the same here as in the exported PDF. The interface is drawn on the graphics card through WebGPU where available and WebGL2 otherwise, which is why a current desktop browser is needed. The frame is served by this site; no third-party host is involved.

Opening a document reads it through the browser's file picker into memory, and Save or Export triggers a normal browser download. The fonts you see are bundled with the editor, so a document looks the same on every computer; a DOCX that names a font the editor does not have is shown with a substitute and keeps the original font name in the file. Spelling, grammar and everything else work without a network connection.

Bu araç nasıl kullanılır

  1. Wait for the editor to load. The first visit downloads about 14 MB; afterwards it starts from the browser cache.
  2. Choose Blank document or a template on the start page, or click Open to load a DOCX, DOC, ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown or text file. Click into the page once so keyboard shortcuts reach the editor.
  3. Write and format with the ribbon: styles, lists, tables, pictures, headers and footers, references and track changes. The Fullscreen button above the frame gives the page more room.
  4. Save a DOCX with File > Save, or export a PDF with File > Export. The file lands in your Downloads folder.

Limitations

  • A desktop browser with WebGL2 or WebGPU is required. Phones show a notice instead of the editor; tablets can open it, but typing and the ribbon expect a keyboard and a mouse.
  • The first load is about 14 MB, so a slow connection takes a while the first time. Later visits use the browser cache.
  • This is a capable editor for everyday work, not a complete substitute for a desktop office suite. A complex DOCX may not look identical: charts, SmartArt and some drawing objects are not kept through a round trip, and pagination can differ slightly from Word's.
  • Only the fonts bundled with the editor are available; the browser cannot read the fonts installed on your computer.
  • There is no save to disk without your action. Save or export before closing or reloading the tab, because the document lives only in the tab's memory.

Sıkça sorulan sorular

Is this Microsoft Word?

No. Word Processor is this site's own browser editor. It follows the ribbon layout, shortcuts and style model that desktop word processors share, so the skills transfer, and it opens and saves DOCX files, but it is a separate program and some advanced features are not there yet.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. The editor runs entirely inside your browser tab. Files you open are read from your disk into memory, and saving or exporting is a normal browser download. This site only delivers the editor's own files, the same as loading a page's JavaScript.

Does track changes work with Word?

Yes. Tracked insertions and deletions and the comments in the margin are written into the DOCX in the standard way, so a reviewer who opens the file in Word sees them and can accept or reject them there, and the other way round.

Can I export a PDF?

Yes. File > Export writes a PDF with selectable text, working links and bookmarks from the headings, paginated exactly as the editor shows the document. For a one-step conversion without opening an editor, the Markdown to PDF and DOCX converters on this site cover the common cases.

Which keyboard shortcuts work?

The usual ones: Ctrl or Cmd with B, I and U for bold, italic and underline, Z and Y for undo and redo, S to save, F for find, H for replace, A to select all, Enter continues a list and Tab demotes it, F7 checks spelling. Click inside the editor first so the keys reach it rather than the page.
